National Food Security Act
The National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) has been passed by the Parliament. The Government of Himachal Pradesh has instituted this scheme. The Government of India has fixed a target of 36.82 Lac population to this State to cover under NFSA, 2013.
Rates and Scales of subsidized ration under NFSA, 2013:

Who can receive the subsidized ration under NFSA, 2013 ?
The The following categories of people/households would be selected as beneficiaries under the scheme automatically:-
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana households.
- Annapurna Anna Yojana households.
- Below Poverty Line households.
- Households receiving PDS ration at BPL rates.
- Households of families receiving pension from the Department of SC, OBC and Minorities Affairs .
- Households of Tibetans having PDS permit.
Apart from these, more people would be selected by the Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies as per Selection Guidelines which are notified by the government (see below).
