The department ensures in all probability that a Fair Average Quality (FAQ)  of foodgrains and their products is provided to the consumers under T.P.D.S. and H.P. State Specially Subsidized Scheme. The samples of foodgrains / food items being distributed under TPDS & HP State Specially Subsidized Scheme are drawn by the field staff of the department regularly and the same are sent to the laboratory for analysis. All the samples including fortified and non-fortified commodities being distributed under TPDS and State Subsidy Scheme are analyzed in the Departmental Laboratory at Directorate. After analysis of the samples, the results thereof are conveyed to the concerned District Controller's of the department along with the remarks and guidelines for initiating further necessary action against the defaulters. This branch also does the maintenance of the Department Laboratory. The redressal of the disputes arise between Food Corporation of India, H.P. State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. and any other agency involved in transaction of foodgrains and their products regarding the quality of the foodgrains  is also being taken care of by the Quality Control Staff of this department.
