In Himachal Pradesh, all the essential commodities are procured from neighboring states. The State is not self sufficient in the production of food grains and to meet out the requirement, the public mostly remains dependent on the neighboring states, as well as upon the Govt. of India for the allocation of wheat and rice under the T.P.D.S.
